Description

In 2023, TAM Planners was commissioned by the City of Makati, represented by its Mayor, the   Honorable   Abigail Binay-Campos, to prepare the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) 2024-2034 as well as its Zoning Ordinance.  This gave the firm the opportunity to update the CLUP and Zoning Ordinance it helped formulate in 2012. Aside from the Comprehensive Land Use Plan 2024 –2034 and Zoning Ordinance, the Project required the team to deliver several outputs including the Comprehensive Development Plan; Local Development Investment Program; Ecological Profile; Sectoral Studies; Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment; and CLUP Communication Plan.

TAM Planners formed a multi-disciplinary team to assist the city through the Urban Development Department (UDD) in completing the project deliverables. The planning team provided expertise for land use and urban planning and design,GIS, legal and institutional administration, economic development, environmental management, disaster risk reduction and management, infrastructure development, transportation planning, social and community development, financial management and heritage and cultural conservation.

For its urban development, Makati chose a spatial development strategy that focuses on the redevelopment of the western barangays to complement the growth and expansion of Makati CBD as the City aspires to become a leading financial hub in Southeast Asia. The North-South Commuter Rail (NSCR) which will run along the entire western section of Makati is expected to trigger high-density urban development in the cluster as the NSCR stations introduce Transit
